WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) - A Chicago man charged with supplying a Kronenwetter man with a the heroin that killed him will not have a jury picked from outside of Marathon County. Marathon County Circuit Court Judge Michael Moran denied 26-year-old Tyshun Meeks an out-of-county jury, saying, “There has certainly been media attention in this case, but the coverage has been factual” and that coverage hasn’t permeated the area.
Meeks is charged with reckless homicide by delivery of a controlled substance and eight other felonies. 26-year-old Justin Selves died of an overdose in August of 2011.
Brittanie Robbins of Mosinee was found guilty in April, and is already serving her eight year sentence for her role in Selves’ death. Melonie Brown of Wausau was also sentenced in February to three years in prison plus extended supervision. Charges have also been filed against 24-year-old Kevin Mason of Wausau and 24-year-old David Purnell of Chicago.
Meeks faces up to 130 years in prison if convicted of all charges. A jury trial is scheduled to begin Dec. 10.
